About this trip

This is a new stellar tour of one of the premier wine regions of the world. Home to some of the planet’s greatest and most refined wines, Burgundy’s reputation is as good as it gets. This is the opportunity to discover the wines, personalities and landscape of this wonderful part of France.

Co-hosted by Raymond Blake, an Irish wine journalist and author who has an intimate knowledge of the region. He has been commissioned to write the Burgundy entries for Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book (following two previous books specifically about Burgundy). He owns a house in the region with his wife and writes regularly for The World of Fine Wine.

Some of the visits are provisional.

Costs and Payments

Payments Policy

Each tour has a deposit of $750 per person which is payable at booking. The balance of payment is due 90 days prior to the start of the tour.

WeTravel Payments
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new booking system, powered by the WeTravel platform. Our primary goal is to enhance your booking experience, making it simpler and more convenient, especially when it comes to payment via credit card.WeTravel is a highly respected booking and payments platform for group travel businesses, trusted by over 5,000 companies worldwide. We couldn't be happier to partner with them, knowing that they provide instant payment acceptance, efficient booking management, and global fund transfers.

Booking your next adventure with us is now smoother than ever. Tours will continue to be listed on our website as before. When you click ‘book now’ on the tour page you will transition to the new WeTravel booking page for that tour where you can select the package and options that you wish to book.

We highly recommend creating an account during the signup process. This enables you to track the status of your bookings and make any necessary changes whenever you need to. Rest assured, WeTravel respects your privacy and won't inundate you with marketing emails.Payment Methods  Once you've completed the familiar booking form, you can proceed to make secure online payments, currently available in 2 different ways:

  1. credit card (which incurs a processing fee that varies according to the currency and location you are paying in, up to 2.9%)
  2. bank debit transfer. Bank debit transfers occur when an account holder authorises an outside party to “pull” funds from their bank account. The recipient’s bank initiates the transfer of funds, not the sender’s bank. When a customer sets up this type of bank transfer to make a payment, they provide their name and account details to the recipient, who will then use the account information to pull funds from the sender’s account into their own. This is different from bank/ wire transfer where instead of the recipient’s account “pulling” money from the sender’s account, credit transfers work by “pushing” money from the sender’s bank account to the recipient’s.

If you prefer alternative payment methods such as cheques or Wise wire transfer, we're happy to accommodate these arrangements on request.

Non USA Payments  Most of our tours are listed in US dollars but if you want to pay in your local currency by the bank debit method then it is as easy as selecting the flag of your country’s currency on the top right of the window when you are making payment. Alternatively, you can request our $US account details to make a wire transfer from outside the USA.

2nd Participant Payments   A booking will only show under the account of the person who made the booking, not the second participant. There are 2 options for payment in this case -

  1. You can pay together and handle the participant's payment outside of WeTravel.
  2. You can share the login and each make payments with your preferred payment method.

Timings The payment timing will stay the same, with a deposit of $750 pp payable at booking and the balance payable by 90 days before the tour starts. You will receive an automated reminder 30 days before the balance is due.We believe this new system will streamline your booking experience. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]

Itinerary

Arrive in Paris at 4 star Hotel Belmont on Monday 6th of October.

Monday 6th October
Meet in the hotel reception for transfer to the historic restaurant, Drouant. Founded in 1880 and home to the prestigious literary prize the Prix Goncourt, this is a very pleasant introduction to the food and wine of France. D

Tuesday 7th October Chablis

Depart Paris and head south to Chablis for visit and tasting at William Fevre, one of the great domaines of the region dating from 1957. We enjoy a seasonal lunch at Le Maufoux Chablis neaby and then travel on to Beaune, arriving late afternoon to check in to Hotel Le Cep, where we settle in for the week. A wine hotel ideally situated in the heart of Beaune, it’s a traditional setting for our stay with a lovely restaurant and spa. In the evening we enjoy a ‘Crémant & Canapés’ reception in the courtyard at 7pm Dinner is free this evening. B/L

Wednesday 8th October Côte de Beaune

We leave the hotel just before 1000 for a visit to Chateau de Pommard. It was bought by a Silicon Valley entrepreneur a few years back and has been massively transformed since and offers a wonderful visit and wines. We then move on to a visit and lunch at Château de Meursault. The property changed hands a few years back and has seen huge improvement since. We take the chance to taste wines from Château de Marsannay (Côte de Nuits), which is in the same ownership so this is something of a ‘double whammy’ visit. Return to the hotel and evening is free. B/L

Thursday 9th October Côte Chalonnaise & Côte de Beaune

Morning visit to multi-award winning Domaine Evenstad in Santenay. Drive back to Beaune via the Montrachet vineyards for a stop and stroll. Light lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon we enjoy an extended visit to Joseph Drouhin. We start with a visit to the vineyards of the Clos des Mouches with the tasting of a Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches white and red in the vines, followed by a visit to their historical cellars followed by the tasting of their most emblematic wines, ending around 4.30pm a short stroll from the hotel. Dinner is at the Michelin starred Le Carmin just a short walk away from the hotel. B/L/D

Friday 10th October Côte de Nuits

Morning visit and tasting at Domaine Faiveley, one of Burgundy’s largest and most important wine producers. We then visit JC Boisset in Nuits-Saint-Georges for lunch and a tasting. This is really impressive, brand-new winery and a lovely setting to appreciate the landscape and the range of wines that the area can produce. In the afternoon we visit Clos de Vougeot, which was the Cistercians monks’ winery. If a single location can be said to be the birthplace of modern Burgundy, this is it. After our visit we return to Beaune. Free evening.
B/L

Saturday 11th October Beaune

We have a leisurely final day, enjoying a visit to the weekly market in the morning before free time at lunch and then a visit to the Hospices de Beaune in the afternoon. Our last dinner is at L’Expression where we try wines from some of the parts of Burgundy that we won’t be visiting, we will also be joined by one of Raymond’s Burgundian wine friends for a local’s view on the current wine scene in Burgundy. A fine place to conclude the tour. B/D

Sunday 12th October End of Tour

After breakfast transfer to Lyon and end of tour.

Jeremy Shaw and Iberian Wine Tours do an outstanding job. Esp. noteworthy is their access to people & venues that an individual traveler or a 'big bus' tour simply would not have. This is due to their relationships over the years and the small-size tour groups. This particular trip was excellent - what a great look at Ireland! W. Hyatt

The trip to Ireland was wonderful. The team at Iberian Wine Tours is so good at what they do - providing a unique experience that was not only a great deal of fun but also helped me to better understand Ireland. And the food and beverages were superb. Excellent job Jeremy, Simon and Laura!

In general, a great trip with very good experiences. The weather was a problem at times, in that there was extensive walking in high heat. Also, some of the open-air restaurants were not as enjoyable as they might have been due to the heat. The wine emphasis was less than previous Iberian tours. Day 2, the day with the hazel nuts, had too many activities packed too close together. Also, we were not given any time to unpack upon are arrival at the Villa. The guide in Torino was difficult to understand. Simon, Jenny and Magda (sp?) were excellent, considerate, informative and vigilant. However, one time my husband got left behind when he stopped to use the toilet. Overall, it was a very nice tour, and the Villa accommodation was amazing!

We had a great time the people with us were wonderful to share this experience of wine tasting and eating such delicious food. Jenny, Simon and Magda were just wonderful hosts they knew how to take care of us. Can't believe the 5 star hotels that Iberian finds for us to stay in, just unbelieveable. We keep telling our friends about Iberian Wine tours and that they need to go on one of their tours.
