Monday 2nd November
We meet the hotel before going for private dinner with fine wines at at a top local restaurant. The city is noted for its culture, Renaissance art, architecture and monuments. It also contains numerous museums and art galleries, such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Pitti, and still exerts an influence in the fields of art, culture and politics. D
Tuesday 3rd November
We head for a private Truffle Hunting Experience in the Cusona Guicciardini Strozzi winery in search of the ‘King Truffle’ with an expert truffle hunter and his dog. Followed by a light lunch near San Gimignano. Check in to the NH Hotel in the historic centre of Siena. Siena is likely Italy's loveliest medieval city and its heart is the central piazza known as Il Campo, known worldwide for the famous Palio run here, a horse race run around the piazza two times every summer. Light dinner with wines paired in a local wine bar in Siena. B/L/D
Wednesday 4th November
In the morning, departure and drive to Chianti Classico wine region. Visit and tasting at Badia a Coltibuono is a nearly thousand-year-old abbey-turned-winery in Gaiole in Chianti, where Benedictine monks cultivated vines and olive trees as early as 1051. Today, under the fifth-generation Stucchi Prinetti family, the estate is known for its organic Chianti Classico, historic barrel-room, cooking school, and timeless Tuscan hospitality.
Visit and lunch at Capannelle started in 1974 when the businessman Raffaele Rossetti moved to a 16th century Villa surrounded by 10.5 hectares of land in Gaiole in Chianti, homeland to Chianti Classico.
After lunch a visit to Radda in Chianti. If Greve is the commercial brain of Chianti, Radda is its soul. With its small-town mood, picturesque Radda makes an appealing base for exploring wine country. Free evening. B/L
Thursday 5th November
Head for a cheese tasting in Pienza which is especially famous for its Pecorino cheese, made from sheep’s milk and aged in traditional methods that give it a rich, distinctive flavor. On to Montepulciano to a winery visit at Palazzo Contucci. The Contucci family were cultivating the grape in the XI century. In fact they were one of the founding fathers of Vino Nobile. Lunch in a family restaurant in the heart of Montepulciano, Le Logge del Vignola. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing walk in the village of Montepulciano. Departure and check-in in a boutique hotel near the village of San Quirico d’Orcia for two nights, the Boutique Hotel Villa Liberty. Dinner at the restaurant of the hotel B/L/D
Friday 6th November
Late in the morning, visit a olive oil mill, enjoy the new harvest. After we have a visit and lunch in one of Brunello di Montalcino’s oldest wineries, the Col d’Orcia Estate. Departure after lunch and drive back to the Relais for some relaxation. Later in the evening, we enjoy a visit and dinner in Montalcino at the Mastrojanni Estate. B/L/D
Saturday 7th November
Departure in the morning, discovering Morellino di Scansano Docg region. Visit and lunch at Castello di Collemassari, a restored fortress dating for the 13th century. After lunch departure and check-in for 1 night in the Villa Acquaviva Wine resort near Manciano, just a stone's throw away from the Terme di Saturnia hot springs. Late in the afternoon, departure to Pitigliano and visit the village also known as the little Jerusalem of the Tuscan Maremma due to the active Jewish community that has been settled there since the 15th century. Dinner in a local restaurant in Pitigliano. B/L/D
Sunday 8th November
Check-out in the morning and departure to Rome Airport. On the way to Fiumicino airport, after two hour driving, stop for a visit and a light snack at a the Monteverro Estate winery. The vineyard is situated in close proximity to the coast and is characterised by its unusual slopes on stony, red clay soil.
After the visit, proceed to the airport to catch your flight. End of tour. B
